Today we went to Den Gamel By in Århus.  I loved this place!!  It is a lot like This is the Place Heritage Park in Utah, but for Denmark.  I loved it!!
It was found in 1909 and was the world's first open-air museum.  It has a working bakery and a merchandise shop.  There were students there helping with the work around some of the 75 buildings.

The red house is from 1585.

Most of the houses were all set from 1500s to the 1800s.

There was also a 1970s apartment building set up. This building reminded my Dad of when he was a young missionary for the church in Denmark.  It had three apartments: a lady who never married, a family with two children, and a commune for four singles.  There was also an office space.

(By the way...the geese just roamed.)

There is The Mintmaster's Mansion - it was originally constructed in 1683 and is restored to it mid-1700s time.
This is the staircase to the upper floor.

The ceiling in the parlor - it dates the late 1600s.

View out the rest of Den Gamel By
The brown brick building on the right is the Mayor's House.

The backyard to the Mayor's House.
The interior of the Mayor's House takes you from the Renaissance to the 1850s.  This is including the interior design and clothes.

This tree was near the center of Den Gamel By.
On our way back from Århus, we stopped in Odense.  This is where Hans Christian Andersen is from.

These pillars on the hotel are different stories from Hans Christian Andersen.
The yellow house at the end of this street is the HC Andersen house.  It is a museum to his early life.

Have I mentioned that this is my favorite lighthouse?
There are three main islands of Denmark - Jutland, Fyn, and Sjælland.  This lighthouse is between Fyn and Sjælland
