Tonight I went and saw "Hairspray" at Olympus High School. It was great. I was sitting next to a lady who asked her friend if the shows at Olympus were any good. At intermission, one of them said they were speechless at how great it was. Not surprised. They always do a great job.

Our tiles at the school. This auditorium is about to be demolished.

October 29, 2012

Today I "vacuumed" up the leaves in the front yard. I say vacuumed because I used the leaf blower and the sucker-up extension of it. There was a few leaves.

This is just half. I would have taken a picture of the leaves all in a pile, but it was too dark by that point of time...
Only one bag though. :)

October 28, 2012

This morning, Wendy gave all of us a good scare as she was unresponsive and had to be taken to the hospital. It is amazing to see the small things that helped make sure that Wendy was able to get the help she needed. The fact that the paramedics are close in Holladay and that Kyle felt he needed to check on Wendy. That I had my phone out during Relief Society, which usually isn't the case and that Julie heard her own cell phone when it was on vibrate. I was in Relief Society when I got a call, which I ignored and then a 911 text to call home. I got out of Relief Society and home to help. It is amazing how the Lord works.
I am grateful that Wendy is still with us and we know what to look for now.

After church, I went home an helped straighten the house a little so it was only the moving items out to make things a little easier. Also, I checked on the Kobe's rabbit, Fluffer Nutter, who had escaped his cage. I had to call in help to catch him, so my nice Elders Quorum President came and we caught him and he was quarantined to his cage and he was blocked in.

After dinner at Mike & Amy's, I went and visited Wendy and Kyle at the hospital, and Amy sent food for Kyle.

This morning, I helped Wendy and Kyle move from Farmington to the Flamingo house.

All the family in Utah was able to give a hand.
Tonight I went to Royce & Rachel (Miller) Porter's party at the Miller's residence.

Evelyn Miller always does amazing decorations, especially for Halloween. When we first arrived, we did a scavenger hunt around to all the decorations. There was a castle, a suit of armor, a pirate ship and many others. My favorite is the cemetery in the front yard.

"Goldilocks tasted the gruel taste was wasted, When Baby Bear left on that day, She wasn't aware the sweet little bear had poisoned the mush on the way."
"Little Bo Beep at last found her sheep, but she, equal in wit and unwise. The sheep as one heap leaped off the steep, and she followed them to her demise."
"Three Blind Mice fell prey to ironic device. The farmer, blind too, his aim ail askew. Their heads, not their tails, he did slice."

"Rapunzel: he climbed her hair, the valiant prince, to give her lips a peck. But seeing her, his face did wince. His climb had broke her neck."
"Rip Van Winkle: A 70 year slumber a spell did conceive. And due to a blunder, he was buried alive."
"Jack was not nimble. Jack was not quick. Jack was impaled on the candlestick."
Tonight the dinner was named Griselda.

After this party, I went to another party which was a glow in the dark party and slightly opposite of this one.

Happy Birthday Julie!

Tonight, Chris, Brian, Elizabeth, Mike, Julie, Randy, Wendy and I went out to dinner for Julie's birthday at Sicilia's pizza. It was pretty good actually. Afterwards, I went to the Edison Street Organ Loft to see "The Phantom of the Opera". It was the silent film staring Lou Cheney. A gentleman by the name of Brian Gailes played the organ for the movie. It was amazing.

Today also came the first snowfall of the season.

Around 8:50 this morning.

Around noon.

Around 2:50.
The weather could not make up its mind.

Sister Kris Swenson brought a Banana cake with Cream Cheese frosting which was amazing. It was a great night.

Today, winter decided to come to Holladay. Goodbye Mt. Olympus

8:24 am

2:20 pm
The cloud finally left around 5:12.
Tonight I went to an Area Auxiliary Training for Relief Society. It was done by the General Relief Society President, President Linda Burton.
We came back and my car wouldn't start. My car doesn't like my church parking lot. This is the second time it wouldn't start. It is kind of like the line from "Pushing Daisies": So what if - in the unlikely, but not impossible event - that the car gets up to the speed of 70 miles an hour with the headlights on and the seat warmer on low, a short circuit in the radio causes a cataclysmic chain reaction that blows the car and it precious cargo to smithereens!". Not that I am afraid of being blown to smithereens, but when I leave my lights on for too long and I am not driving, my car doesn't like to start. My amazing Presidency helped me get my car up and running again in the rain.

Tonight I went to the Kobe's in Peterson for dinner. I had called Wendy about asking how to do rice and she invited me to dinner. That makes 7 counties I went through this weekend: Salt Lake, Utah, Juab, Sanpete, Davis, Weber, and Morgan.
The picture is from our backyard and all the leaves.

Also, I forgot to post another pumpkin from last night: Donald Duck carved into a white pumpkin.

I headed home so that I could get ready for my party tonight. I had a pumpkin carving party tonight with friends. It was a lot of fun!

October 17, 2012

Tonight I went to Cornbelly's Corn Maze and Pumpkin Fest. I went with a girl I work with, Catherine, her son, her ex-husband and his son from his first marriage. We had a great time!!

This year, the maze had President Obama and Mitt Romney holding an American Flag.

Throughout the maze, you could scan a code and see where you were.

We entered at the Romney entrance and somehow ended up in Obama, even though the mazes don't cross....

I love the pumpkin tree!

One of the kids didn't want to go through a scary activity, so the two of us went and jumped on a enormous blown up pillow. It wore me out. According to the worker, jumping on it for 15 minutes was the equivalent of running a mile.
Afterwards we played on the mountain of slides. Correction, the kids and I played in the slides.

October 14, 2012

Tonight we went to Mike & Amy's for dinner. After dinner we played Loaded Questions and Topher won. Apparently he knows all of us too well. We also celebrated Julie's birthday tonight.

Tonight on my way home from Mike and Amy's, I finished my book, Annexed by Sharon Dogar. It was a historical fiction about Peter van Pels who lived in the Annex with Anne Frank. I thought it was going to end when the Annex was invaded. It did not. There was a part 2, which was all about the camps. They are not positive when Peter died, but some people think that it was less than a month before the end. He was 18 when he died. The epilogue said that most of part 1 came from Anne's diary and the author added in her own thinking. Part 2 came from historical accounts and items added by the author for the story. It was a very interesting book.
