Today, I went off and toured Copenhagen while my parents were at the Temple all day.
I started out at the Rådhus. This is the City Hall of Copenhagen and it is right in the center of the city.
The main hall.The floor vents
The entrance
The stairway to the upstairs areas.
They had the Jens Olsen's World Clock on display. There were many different areas of this clock. it is an astronomical clock. There are 12 different movements to this clock. These include the hour, minute, second, eclipses, planets movements and a calendar. There is at least one gear that still hasn't done a complete rotation. The slowest gear will take a full 25,753 years to go around.
Afterwards, I started walking down the Strøget again. I went to Tiger. You could say it is like a dollar store, but nicer. I thought that these items were so funny - it is all what goes with a hamburger (lettuce, onions, and fries). You could have anything you wanted in those ingredients.
The fountain down the Strøget.
The Roundtower that Mom and I went to earlier this week.
The inside of the church connected to the Roundtower - the Trinitatis Church.
The view into the Round Tower itself.
Next, onto Rosenberg Castle.
This is the home of the current Royal jewels.
I, then, went up into the Castle itself. When I walked into the first room, there was a tour in English going on and I just followed them. :)
This clock actually chimed while we were there. It was a high pitched sound.
The old door with original finishing.
The symbol of Iceland - a fish with a crown
The red on the wall is actually a tapestry.
These lions are in front of the thrones that are still in Rosenborg.
The silver lions are there to protect the royalty. These lions are moved to the stand in front of a departed casket of a member of the royal family when their casket is being shown to the people. Behind the lion on the right is a baptismal font. It is the font that is used for all royal Christenings.
A really interesting display of dishes
Back to the center of Copenhagen to catch the bus back to the apartment.
Isn't this interesting? The number of bikes that had been ridden past that sign.
This is the found in the main square.
I ended up in the Temple again tonight for another session. It is so great to be near the Temple.
