September 14, 2014

Today, we went to the Bornholm Branch.  There were 18 people in the Branch today.

Afterwards, the Middlemiss', the Branch President and his wife, invited us over for lunch.

After lunch, Mom, Dad and I went out to Hammershus.  It is the oldest castle ruin in Northern Europe.

There were ruins of the kitchen, stairs and the outside walls.  It was up on a hill for defense.  They are working on renovating areas.

There were doorways everywhere to see into, however, most had been over run by plants/grass.

Beautiful view to the Baltic Sea.

Afterwards, we went to two of the Round Churches.  There are four Round Churches throughout Bornholm.

The first one: Ny Kirke

The second one: Nylars Church

I thought this marker was interesting - a timeline of the family and all their dates and deaths.

The middle pillar of depicted the scene of Adam and Eve and the Fall of Adam.

We went back to the Harold's Hotel and had an amazing Flaskestye dinner. Flaskestye is pork with the rind still on it, potatoes, salad, gravy, and red cabbage.  It was so good and really moist.
