Tonight, I finally watched the Closing Ceremonies of the Sochi games.

The Russians have a sense of humor. In the opening ceremonies, the rings didn't open like they should have. The one done at the Closing Ceremonies was done with people and they did the same thing. Funny.

What it finally looked like at the end. :)

Tonight was a last FHE to say good-bye to the old bishopric. They have been great for last year and their wives are amazing.

February 23, 2014

Today was the last day of the Olympics in Sochi. I do love the Olympics and the camaraderie that comes from them. I love the stories of those that help others to succeed.
I made sugar cookies for the Opening Ceremonies and still have one and it is still soft. Hooray!

Tonight, a new season of "The Amazing Race" started. Dave and Connor O'Leary from the stake are on the show again. It is an all-stars season. So excited!

This morning Samantha and I went and did Baptisms for the Dead at the Salt Lake Temple.  There were so many people there, that those waiting to do baptisms waited in the chapel to go and wait and then called to the baptism area.  It was a great time with Samantha.

Later, Christine and I went to see the Dead Sea Scrolls at the Leonardo Museum.  It took me back to my time in Jerusalem and the time that I absolutely loved.  There were many names, dates and times that rang bells.  I loved going and seeing the Dead Sea Scrolls and being transported back to the Middle East.  I had tears in my eyes many items remembering my time in Jerusalem and the lessons I learned and blessings I received while living there. I hope I never forget the experiences that I had there.
At the end of the tour, they had a section of the Western Wall from the Old City/ Temple Mount.  You could write a blessing or a prayer and leave it on the section of the wall and it will go back to Jerusalem and be blessed by the Rabbi there.
I touched the section of the Wester Wall and truly felt like was back at the wall itself.  You could still feel the power of the Wall and the people and the spirit of the city.

My home for 4 months.  :)

Tonight, I went with a group of friends to see "The Lego Movie".  It was really cute movie.  I thought that the animation was amazing and there was so many references throughout it.

Today, I came home for lunch like I always do, and Wendy and Janey were at the house.  Janey just followed me around the kitchen while I prepared my lunch, playing with my skirt.

I went bowling tonight at Bonwood Bowling.  I got a strike on the first frame and went down from there, for both games.  We were having troubles with our lanes with both the balls and the pins.  We had to call a few times to the front - so much so that the last few times we called they would just asked "Ball or pin?"  We ended up getting 3 free games for a later time.

It had been a long day....We were a little comfortable waiting for all the pauses.

The snow came again today, but didn't stick to the walks or streets, so I was totally okay with it. :). In the picture you can just see how big the flakes were that came. It was a flash storm and then gone.

Tonight, after a long day at work, I went to see the Utah Symphony play the Music of Harry Potter. It was really cool and a lot of fun. They had the theme of Harry Potter of course and Hedwig's Theme. However, they also brought in other themes such as "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" and Cinderella. It was a fun night. Fact: the instrument that starts Hedwig's Theme is a celesta. It is the same instrument used in "Pure Imagination" from Willy Wonka as well in "Won't You Be My Neighbor" from Mister Rodgers Neighborhood.

I came home a dozen beautiful yellow roses. So pretty!

Happy Birthday Ella!

So this may look like nothing, but it is the moon at night. It comes straight into my room every night and kind of gets in the way of sleeping. :).

Today, our old bishopric was released and we received a new one. Our old bishopric was Bishop David O Seal, Brother John Brown, and Brother Richard Mecham. Our new bishopric is Bishop Steve Hawes, Brother Lance Howell, and Brother Aaron Westenskow. I am excited for the new one, but sad to see the old one leave. I loved their humor.
Today, I actually made dinner. I was so proud of myself! I made beef stroganoff. I had some friends over for dinner since it was the 3rd Sunday.
Tonight, we ended the night by watching a recording of "Main Street Electrical Parade" and it made me cry. I miss that parade.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today, we started filming for a company video for our company Leadership Conference, to introduce those that work at our properties, and introduce them to the Corporate office.

I was filming on the front desk, since we don't have a receptionist at the time.

They wanted me higher than the desk for the shot.  So, I am sitting on the mail weight machine, our mail and teh chair.  Yeah, I just ended up sitting on my leg, since that was easier to stand up from.

So, I ran by a store today, and random lady gave me three Valentine's, since she had extras from school that day...

Tonight, I went to Julie's and had the annual Valentine's dinner.  Those kids are getting too smart.  I may have ended up with a toothpick and jello...  Not to bad.

Happy Birthday Sarah!

Tonight, a group of friends and I went to see "The Monuments Men".  It was great picture!  It was about soldiers who saved art and structures throughout Europe during World War II.  It is based on a true story, as well as book.  It was great!

Tonight Janey and Wendy came over to work on a Valentine's day gift.  Janey might be a little sick at the moment, but at least she is cute.

My dinner tonight...  Don't worry, the cottage cheese is blue on purpose, not because of my fridge. :)

I don't know if it was because it was blue, or because I used yellow potatoes, but it didn't taste right unfortunately.  I ate enough not to starve. :)

Happy Birthday Kyle!
Today in church, the Elders Quorum came in and gave cupcakes to all the sisters in Relief Society for Valentine's Day coming up.  So nice!

I rode up with Wendy and Kyle to go to Mike and Amy's for dinner for the 2nd Sunday.

She was little tired and her head kept on falling forward.

We went up sledding again today and it was great.  Since the last time we were there, there was at least a few feet of snow.
Kaylene may have wanted to jump in the snow.
It was a little deep....
The snowmobiles may have gotten stuck a few times in the snow, because it was so deep, and we were one of the few groups up there.  I am grateful that we took the car with four wheel drive.
Trying to stay warm going back down the mountain.

The Olympic Party to watch the Opening Ceremonies in Sochi!

There was a potato bar and a salad bar and many toppings.
They were each down by color of the Olympic flag
Red: tomatoes, salsa, kidney beans, bacon bits, beets, Raspberry Vinaigrette dressing
Yellow: corn, cheese, carrots, butter, eggs, Italian dressing
Black: olives, croutons, mushrooms, Poppy Seed dressing
Blue: cottage cheese dyed blue, sour cream dyed blue, Blue Cheese dressing
Green: cucumbers, avocados, peas, Ranch dressing
I am sure I am forgetting some, but it was a lot of fun.
I think we ended up at one point of time with about 16 people here.
Good times and Welcome Olympics!

Tonight, I made sugar cookies for tomorrow.  Remember that time that I always worry about how thick I make sugar cookies and I think I left them a little to thick this time arround...  Well, at least they cooked all the way through.
Making flags for tomorrow.

Tonight, I ran some errands.  I need more lights for my room, since two had gone out and it was a little dark...  I also ran to Maceys to get the food for Friday.  I love the hours of Maceys.

The goods for the Olympic party separated by color.  :)  Still missing a few items, but you get the idea.

Amazing Roy Dunn came and did my walks before I could after we got some snow last night.  I came out and opened my garage door, and there he was finishing my walks.  Amazing!
The beautiful sunset/ clouds after the storm.

Tonight, Wendy and Janey came by to print off items for Janey's party and to get out of the house.  We had fun.  :)  By the way, neither one of us holding Janey.  She is just standing on her own.

Tonight, I went over to Julie and Randy's house for first Sunday dinner.
We played Rage.  I didn't do so hot...  Going up, and then down I go.

Julie and Thea made dessert tonight.  It was peanut butter fudge with chocolate drizzle.  Somehow the peanut butter fudge change form and became soft and crumbly instead of fudge.  It was still really good and still had the taste and just a weirder texture of fudge.  It was crazy, but good.
