Afterwards, Mom, Dad and I went back to the museum to see more. As I said, you could spend days in there.
Before the battle today, they honored those re-enactors that were part of the 100th Anniversary of Gettysburg. There were about 35 of them, some Confederate, some Union, some Generals, some just soldiers. That is amazing. 50 years later and still enjoying it.
The battle today: "The High Water Mark" Pickett's Charge
This battle is as far as the Confederate Army got with attack in Gettysburg.
You can see all the cannons set up. There were about 70 cannons set up around the entire battle field.
The tickets for the Grandstand. Best. Idea. Ever!
The best was that Molly fell asleep right as the battle was beginning, which started with two cannon shots, and was asleep through the 20 minutes of cannon fire and all the muskets going off. It was amazing.
The beginning of Pickett's Charge
The middle...
The end
All the reenactments took place on a farmer's land outside of Gettysburg. Some people had to park a good 1/2 mile away. It was huge!
It took us 2 1/2 hours to get out of the parking lot and back to Gettysburg.
Cute Molly getting changed out of her wet clothes. She loved the rain!
Tonight, we finished the Auto Tour.
We ended where Abraham Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address and the Gettysburg Cemetery.
There were hundreds of marked and unmarked graves.
Beautiful sunset.
